Online Fraud Alerts

There are "phishing" e-mails currently in circulation targeting many financial services clients, including CIBC Caribbean Online Banking clients. CIBC wants to assure our clients that authorities are notified regarding messages targeted at our clients.

As some phishing sites have been known to distribute malicious software, we strongly recommend that you do not select the links provided in a phishing e-mail, as visiting these sites could place your computer at risk. We also recommend that you regularly check your deposit accounts and credit card statements to ensure that all transactions are legitimate.

CIBC Caribbean never sends text messages with links to advise clients of suspended accounts.

We are also receiving reports of “vishing”. This is a type of fraud where the customer receives a voice call, purporting to be from a financial institution to solicit the customer into providing personal/sensitive information. These calls may require you to provide your personal information over the phone and the caller may request you to download/use a remote desktop application. In these instances, the caller appears to be very professional and helpful.

Become cyber smart today and avoid scams. Never give out your personal or bank details over the phone, email or text message to an unknown or unverified person. CIBC Caribbean will NEVER ask you to download/use a remote desktop application. CIBC Caribbean will NEVER ask you for details such as your PIN number, password, account number, Card number, CVV or expiration date.
